Meridian to Host Overdose Awareness Day Event on August 31

NEW CASTLE, Ind. – Meridian Health Services is hosting a free community event to recognize Overdose Awareness Day. The event will be held on Saturday, August 31 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Plaza located at 1400 Plaza in downtown New Castle across from the arts park.

The Overdose Awareness Day event is free and offers activities and information for all ages including FREE food and drinks (while supplies last), activities for kids, community vendors, Narcan demonstrations, and a memorial balloon release. Additionally, the community will enjoy speakers on addictions and recovery including experts who work in the field.

International Overdose Awareness Day – held on August 31 every year – is the largest annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind.

    • Attendees are invited to stay after the event and join the recovery walk
